Jeep barkers survive attack
A 30-YEAR-OLD man was critically wounded after he was shot by three unidentified gunmen while he was drinking with friends in barangay Buaya, Lapu-Lapu City.
Benjie Carellas sustained eight gunshot wounds in the body. One of his friends, Gilbert Casalles, was wounded in the right leg after he was hit by a stray bullet while seeking cover from the gunfire.
Carellas and Cassales, both jeepney dispatchers, were taken to a hospital in Cebu City.
Police said that while Carellas’ group were drinking around 10 p.m. Wednesday, three men on a motorcycle arrived.
As soon as they alighted from their motorcycle, the three men started shooting at Carellas.
The gunmen drove away after the attack.
Article continues after this advertisementA few hours after the incident, police arrested Vergel Godinez, a 21-year-old resident of barangay Buaya, after he was identified by witnesses as one of the assailants.
Article continues after this advertisementA .357 revolver loaded with six bullets was recovered from Godnez’s possession, police said.
