Taxi driver resists robbery, stabbed dead

A TAXI driver was killed by two men who allegedly tried to rob him in barangay Lahug, Cebu City.

Willeno Montero Juntong, driver of Pangging Taxi, suffered stab wounds in the head and other parts of the body.

The suspected assailants, Jason Abellanosa, 21, and a certain Roger, were arrested shortly after the incident.

Police said Juntong, a father of five children, resisted the robbery.

The two assailants rode the taxi posing as passengers.

The taxi was traveling in barangay Labangon when one of the two men poked a gun at Juntong and declared a holdup.

Juntong fought him off and decided to ram the taxi into a fence.

He was repeatedly stabbed by the two passengers who got off and ran.

Bystanders saw the commotion and chased the two men.

Roger was cornered and mauled.

Abellanosa was later arrested by responding police.

A .38 revolver and knife were recovered from the crime scene.

Roger, who sustained serious injuries, was taken to the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC).
