LABORER KILLED IN BUILDING MISHAP

A 40-YEAR-OLD laborer was killed after a hook block of a tower crane fell on him at a condominium being construction site in barangay Canduman, Mandaue City.

Bernardo Bilbao, a resident of barangay Lahug, Cebu City, died on the spot with injuries in the head and body. Another worker was slightly injured.

The victim was a worker of Primary Structures, the contractor of Eagle’s Nest Condominium being built on H. Abellana Street.

The accident happened around 10 a.m. yesterday at the 12th floor of the building.

Police said the spiral cable of the tower crane snapped and and the hook fell on the victim.

PO3 Joel Arcenal, investigator of the Canduman Police Station said, an investigation will be conducted further to determine who would be held liable for the accident.

Police said the contractor agreed to shoulder the victim’s funeral expenses.

LIVESTOCK BUYER KILLED

THE body of a 68-year-old man was found dumped in a ravine in barangay San Isidro, Asturias town, southwest Cebu.

Generoso Juntong was found by police with stab wounds in the different parts of the body around 8 a.m. last Wednesday.

Police later arrested a man tagged as one of the suspects in the killing.

Police said Brian Salmorin admitted his involvement in the killing.

Police said a witness identified Salmorin as one of the assailants.

In his admission, Salmorin identified his older brother Bernardo and Alode Canuelas, 33, as his cohorts. The two other suspects remain at large.

Brian allegedly confessed who provided Bernardo and Canuelas the knives used in the killing, police said.

The victim’s wife, Lucita, told police that her husband had asked permission from her that he would go to the house of a certain Gina to buy livestock Tuesday morning.

Police said the couple is into the buying and selling of livestock.

According to Lucita, Gina’s house was located on a hilly and secluded portion several meters away from their house.

Lucita said she became worried when her husband failed to return home just hours after he left.

Lucita sought help from the police.

During the search operation, police saw bloodstains on the ground that led them to the area where the body was found.

The ravine was about eight meters deep, said SPO3 Dennis Nocos of Asturias police.
