Ambunda-Kameda fight officials bared

10:57 AM July 12, 2013

THE World Boxing Organization (WBO) yesterday named the ring officials for the WBO bantamweight title bout between champion Paulus Ambunda (20W-0L, 10 KOs) of Namibia and challenger Tomoki Kameda (27W-0L, 18 KOs) of Japan.
The third man inside the ring will be American Robert Byrd.  Byrd was the referee in Bacolod City when Donnie ‘Ahas’ Nietes dethroned Ramon Garcia Hirales of Mexico by unanimous decision for the WBO light flyweight title two years ago and when Edrin Dapudong knocked out Gideon Buthelezi in South Africa for the IBO superflyweight title last month.
The three fight judges are Waleska Roldan of New York, Thomas Miller of Ohio and Carlos Colon of Puerto Rico while fight supervisor will be Luis Perez of Puerto Rico.
Ambunda vs Kameda: Battle of the Undefeated will be on August 1 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel in Lahug. /Correspondents Rene Bonsubre Jr. and Dale G. Rosal
