Annual SHAABAA caging kicks off on July 21

THE Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABAA) gets rolling on July 21 with the Mivesa Cup at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu basketball courts in barangay Canduman, Mandaue City.
The teams participating in this annual tournament that pits alumni batches of the school against one another is headed by the defending champions Cebu Landmasters.
Also in the tournament are runners up Goldberry Suites, RDAK Transporter, Milco Fresh Eggs, Insular Square, Alberto’s Pizza, Gaisano Capital, San Remegio Aguilas, San Jose Bakeshop and the A-Team.
The elimination round will be a single round-robin affair with the top eight teams advancing to the quarterfinal round.
There, the top four finishers will enjoy a twice-to-beat bonus against their lower-ranked opponents. The semifinals will be a best-of-three affair, as will be the championship round.  /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
