Customs bureau sues 5 traders for rice smuggling

MANILA, Philippines—The Bureau of Customs on Thursday filed smuggling complaint against traders who tried to sneak into the country rice from Vietnam.

Facing complaint for violation of the Tariff and Customs Code of the Philippines (TCCP) are Ramil Olita of JM ARS Trading, Marlon Sampang of JJM Global Trading, Marcos Custan of Custans Enterprises, Noel Wison of NMW Enterprises and Benjamin Garcia of Neon Gateway Trading.

The rice traders allegedly attempted to smuggle into the country 50 20-foot container vans of P36,156,740 million worth of rice from Vietnam last March 22.
