LPA off Zambales now tropical depression ‘Fabian’
MANILA, Philippines – As storm “Emong” left the Philippine territory Thursday morning, the low -pressure area being monitored by the state weather bureau has intensified into a tropical depression and is named “Fabian.”
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said midday Thursday that “Fabian” has no direct effect to any part of the country, but will whip up the southwest monsoon which will bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms over the western section of Luzon, particularly Palawan.
“Fabian” was last observed 290 kilometers West of Iba, Zambales, with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center.
It was moving north northwest at 11 kph.
On Saturday, Fabian is forecast to be 410 kilometers northwest of Laoag City, and it will leave the country later on this day.
