Man killed in shootout with Talisay police
A man was killed in an alleged shootout with the police in barangay Poblacion, Talisay City, southern Cebu.
Police identified the fatality as Jaime Telmoso, who suffered gunshot wounds in the chest and right leg.
Supt. Elmer Lim, chief of the Talisay City police, said Telmoso had been in and out of jail.
Lim said Telmoso was involved in several theft cases in Talisay City.
Telmoso was the backrider of a motorcycle which was flagged by police in a checkpoint last Monday night.
Police said the driver of the motorcycle, Raymond dela Victoria, 26, submitted himself to inspection but the backrider jumped off the motorcycle and ran toward Ramona Village.

Article continues after this advertisementTelmoso allegedly fired shots at policemen, who returned fire.
Police said the shootout lasted for at least five minutes.
Police said Telmoso continued to fire shots at the policemen until his .22 Magnum revolver jammed.
A bloodied Telmoso was later found slumped in a grassy area.
Telmoso was brought to Talisay City District Hospital but the attending doctor declared him dead.
Police said they recovered a black bag containing eight .22 caliber Magnum revolvers, a .9mm caliber pistol and a pack of suspected shabu.
Dela Victoria was brought to the police station after the incident but he was later released after it was proven that Telmoso only hitched for a ride.
