MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police has urged candidates to file formal charges against policemen accused of electioneering during the election period.

Chief Superintendent Generoso Cerbo Jr., PNP spokesperson, on Tuesday assured the candidates that the PNP would act on the complaints against its personnel who allowed themselves to be used by local candidates.

He said PNP chief Alan Purisima had ordered the reshuffle of over 1,400 PNP officials before the May polls to prevent policemen from influencing the results of the elections.
