P200,000 heist

Burglars stole at least P200,000 in cash after they destroyed a vault of Puyat Steel Corp. in Ouano Avenue, Mandaue City yesterday.

The burglary was discovered yesterday morning when Jason Morony, accounting department officer in charge, reported for work.

Security guard Matranillo Saberon said that he didn’t notice any suspicious activity during his watch.

American robbed

Three robbers forcibly entered the rented apartment in Santa Catalina Village, barangay Lagtang, Talisay City of an American, Robert Lero, yesterday.

Lero from Tennessee, USA, 70, told police that the robbers tied his hands and feet and covered his mouth with a masking tape and stole at least P35,000 of cash and appliances.

Shooting suspect

A 32-year-old security guard implicated in the killing of Masbate Mayor Hermigildo Betonio III’s live-in partner, Crisanta Lauro,  and wounding of  Masbate Councilor Leny Betonio-Eser, voluntarily appeared at the Cebu City Intelligence Branch to clear his name last Satuday.

Aljon Aja of barangay Basak, San Nicolas, Cebu City went to the police to deny his involvement in the shooting incident.

Police said the shooter’s description fit that of Ala in the rogues’ gallery. Eser however failed to identify Ala as the gunman. /Correspondent Chito  Aragon

Body found

A 50-year-old man whom his family declared missing since last Friday was found in a grassy vacant lot in barangay Tayud, Consolacion town, last Sunday.

Nonilo Soliman, of barangay Nangka, was found by a boy  near the lot.
