Man gunned down

A 23-YEAR-OLD man was shot and killed in barangay Tulay, Minglanilla town, southern Cebu.

Junsen Espina suffered a gunshot wound in the back. He died while being treated at Minglanilla District Hospital.

PO2 Vincent Aliñabo of Minglanilla police said Espina was shot while walking on a road past noon Friday.

Man stabs uncle

A 21-YEAR-OLD man surrendered to the police after he stabbed his uncle in barangay Poblacion, Danao City, northern Cebu.

Junry Tapayan Cabradilla and his 37-year-old uncle Glen Giango Tapayan were both drunk when the stabbing occurred around 4 a.m. yesterday.

Police said the two men argued before Cabradilla took a kitchen knife and stabbed the victim in back.

Tapayan was brought to Danao Provincial Hospital. He was later transferred to a hospital in Cebu City.

Balamban fire razes 2 houses

TWO houses were destroyed while another was damaged when fire hit a congested area in barangay Baliwagan, Balamban town, southwest Cebu yesterday morning.

The fire broke out at 11:30 a.m. and was controlled in 10, FO2 Edwin Procio, Balamban fire investigator, said .

The fire started allegedly at the house of Celebeth Loste, who was cooking sweet potatoes and bananas before her house went ablaze.

Procio said Loste may have left the cooking unattended.

Cook shot in Lapu

A 20-YEAR-OLD restaurant cook was shot by a man whom he accidentally bumped along a road in barangay Poblacion, Lapu-Lapu City yesterday dawn.

Jomar Monicer was taken to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City with a gunshot wound in the body.

Police said the victim and his two friends were walking along Lopez Jaena Street when he accidentally bumped a man.

Monicers apologized to the man who got irked, police said.

The victim’s friends confronted the man and challenged him to a fistfight.

The man whipped out and opened fire.
