Magos wins Asia-Pacific Youth flyweight crown
ROMNICK Magos of the RWS Gym of Cebu proudly displayed the WBO Youth Asia-Pacific flyweight title belt that he won last Saturday when he was introduced to the crowd before the main event of the “Fighters of the Future” card at the Mandaue City Sports Complex last Sunday.
Magos beat the previously unbeaten Aston “Mighty” Palicte of the Jason Soong Stable of Makati City by fourth round TKO in a fight held in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
“I had a very hard time because he was much taller than me. He knocked me down in the first round. I was groggy,” Magos told Cebu Daily News in a brief interview.
“But I managed to continue fighting and we exchanged hard punches. I knocked him down in rounds 3 and 4 and won by TKO.”
Palicte did not come out of his corner after the fourth round.
Magos sported welts all over his face and a band-aid across his right eyebrow as souvenirs of the hard-fought battle.
