/ 07:26 AM December 04, 2012

Philippine super flyweight champion Marco Demecillo Singwangcha kept his unbeaten record Sunday night after scoring a third round stoppage of Jessie Tuyor in the main event of the ‘Fighters of the Future’ card at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex.

Both fighters started like a house on fire before Demecillo stepped up his body assault in the second round. However, one of Tuyor’s punches managed to open a cut on Demecillo’s right eyebrow.

This only enraged Demecillo further as he came out firing in the third round. Demecillo pounded Tuyor’s midsection sending the latter  crashing to the canvas with two hard hooks to the ribs. Referee Tony Pesons counted Tuyor out at 2:13 of the third.

VALERO STOPS SUNIDO

In the co-main feature, Gerpaul Valero stopped Ronnie Sunido with a right uppercut to the body in the second round. Referee Teddy Alivio halted the bout as Sunido’s cornerman entered the ring to save his boxer from further punishment. Valero, who won the super flyweight category in last year’s Buhay Boksingero tournament, scored his 12th win under former Olympian Brix Flores.

In the undercard bouts: Ardie Boyosi knocked out Dondon Narvaez at 1:27 of the second round; Jayson Redondo Singwangcha knocked out Jomar Ministerio also in the second round; Sesustener Llanera Singwangcha won by fifth round TKO over Jesson Inso; Neil John Tabanao Singwangcha dropped Jerome Baja in the opening round. Baja got up but became the recipient of hard body shots prompting him not to come out of his corner in the second round.

Joey Canoy Singwangcha had a successful pro debut against Gary Rojo, dropping the latter with a right hook in the second before scoring a unanimous decision win.

In the evening’s opening bout, Belmar Plaza and Richard Rosales settled for a split draw.
