Viloria faces Marquez today in Los Angeles

WBO flyweight champion Brian “The Hawaiian Punch” Viloria of the Philippines and WBA flyweight champion Hernan “Tyson” Marquez of Mexico both made the division weight limit during the official weigh-in traditionally held one day before their bout  in the Champion vs Champion card at Biltmore  Hotel in Los Angeles, California, USA.

Viloria weighed in at 111.8 pounds while Marquez stepped on the scales at 110.8 pounds. They will fight for 12 rounds in a world unification bout today at Home Depot Center.

Filipino bantamweight contender Drian “Gintong Kamao” Francisco will fight in the undercard and weighed in at 120 pounds while his opponent Javier Gallo of Mexico weighed 119 pounds. They are scheduled to fight for eight rounds in their non-title bantamweight bout.

Viloria (31 wins-3 losses, 18 knockouts), who traces his roots to the Ilocos Region, is a three-time world champion in two different weight categories.

In his last two fights in the Philippines, he stopped Mexican boxers Giovani Segura in eight rounds and Omar Nino Romero in nine rounds.

Marquez (34-2, 25 KOs) has not tasted defeat since he got stopped by Nonito Donaire in eight rounds in a fight held in Puerto Rico two years ago.

Referee David Mendoza will be the third man in the ring for this unification bout and the assigned judges are Americans Levi Martínez, David Denkin and Jonathan Davis, who is formerly from Cebu but is now judging fights in the United States.
