MANILA, Philippines—Four people, including two Chinese nationals, were arrested for possession of roughly P10-million worth of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” in San Juan City Thursday afternoon, police said.

Chief Superintendent Leonardo Espina identified those arrested as Wang Yong Gui, 30; and Dong Jin Chen, 29; and live-in partners Jubilyn Gallardo and Bryan Chua.

Espina said authorities were supposed to stage a buy-bust operation against the suspects when they chanced upon the Filipinos having their own transaction with the foreigners at a parking area on Club Filipino Drive in Barangay (village) Greenhills in San Juan City around 12 noon.

When accosted, Espina said authorities confiscated 2 kilos of high-grade shabu from the two Chinese, as well as another sachet of shabu that Gallardo and Chua bought from the foreign suspects for P20,000.

The suspects’ vehicles—a black Subaru (XKV 819) and silver CRV – were also seized.

Espina said before the arrest, the Eastern Police District anti-narcotics agents placed the Chinese nationals under surveillance for several weeks.
The suspects are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
