Ex-education chief Hidalgo named FUSE head
Former Education Secretary Fe A. Hidalgo was elected president of the Foundation for Upgrading the Standard of Education (FUSE), ahead of the group’s 18th anniversary in December.
Hidalgo succeeded the late Rep. Salvador H. Escudero III, one of the founders of the nonprofit, nonstock organization, who died on Aug. 13.
“With an accomplished educator like Dr. Hidalgo at the helm of FUSE, we see a seamless implementation of our varied programs for teachers. Her proven and tested leadership in the education sector will certainly be an asset for the foundation,” FUSE cofounder and vice chairman Lucio C. Tan said in a statement.
Hidalgo, holder of a doctorate degree in philosophy from Australia’s Maquarie University, is also a member of FUSE’s Board of Trustees.
A professorial lecturer at University of Santo Tomas and visiting lecturer at Ateneo de Manila and Far Eastern Universities, Hidalgo is also the convenor of the K to 12’s values education.
