2 killed in shootings

Two men were killed by motorcycle-riding assailants in separate shooting incidents in Cebu.

Vic Noval was shot dead while he was playing hantak (a coin-toss game) in barangay Jubay, Liloan town, northern Cebu.

Police said Noval was with a group of people in an interior portion of sitio Fatima when an unidentified man arrived past 2 a.m. yesterday.

The assailant approached Noval from behind and shot him in the head with a .45 pistol.  When Noval fell to the ground, the assailant finished him off by shooting him in the chest.  The gunman fled on a red motorcycle driven by an accomplice.

In barangay San Roque, Talisay City, a trisikad driver was gunned down while talking with fellow drivers last Saturday morning.

Michael Cainglit, 22, succumbed to three gunshot wounds in the body.

While Cainglit and other fellow trisikad drivers were waiting for passengers, a motorcycle with three men on board arrived.  The two backriders drew a gun and shot the victim.

The two assailants picked up the empty shells on the ground before they drove off.  The victim was brought to the Talisay City District Hospital but died along the way.
