Police arrest woman for using fake names to get free cell phones

A WOMAN was arrested for using fictitious names to avail of a Globe plan and get a free cell phone.

Glizel de Claro, 27, of barangay Mambaling, Cebu City, was arrested Wednesday by two security officers of Globe Telecommunications inside a mall in barangay Mabolo.

It was later learned that Claro uses the aliases Donabelle Ardiente and Jacky Chua when applying for a cell phone plan.

Claro did not comment on her arrest.

Police said the suspect would sell the free cell phone she would get from the plan.

Police said that since the suspect used a fictitious name, it would be difficult for the company to locate her for unpaid phone bills.

Police said the woman had tried to apply for the same plan in a different mall but was denied.

Gerald Bechayda, security officer of Globe, said people involve in similar illegal activity would usually submit A fake certificate of employment.

After the arrest, Claro was detained at the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) stockade where she fainted due to a foul odor.

She was later transferred to the detention cell of the Criminal Investigation and Detective Management Branch (IDMB)./CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
