Over 600,000 devotees gather at Quiapo Church as Traslacion continues

MANILA, Philippines — Around 630,000 Jesus Nazareno devotees are within the vicinity of Quiapo Church as the Traslacion continues, as of 2 p.m. on Thursday, the Nazareno Operations Center announced.
The church officials’ crowd count was at 516,300 devotees at 1 p.m. on Thursday.
The Traslacion began passing by the Minor Basilica of San Sebastian for the “Dungaw” at around 6 p.m., the solemn moment in the procession where the image of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel is brought out to “view” the passing ebony sculpture of Jesus Nazareno.

The procession now inches closer to Quiapo Church.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) logged more devotees needing medical attention since operations began during the week-long festivities on Monday, now rising to 529 cases as of 5 p.m. on Thursday.

It is the culmination of a week’s worth of festivities for the Feast of Jesus Nazareno every January, when millions of Catholic faithful flock to the streets of Manila in hopes of seeing or touching the image of Christ, said to have miraculous powers.
