LUCENA CITY — A 64-year-old motorcycle rider died after his vehicle collided with a truck in Candelaria town in Quezon province on Friday.

The Quezon police said in a report released Saturday, Aug, 3, that Teodolo Arzadon was driving his motorcycle when he collided with an Isuzu aluminum close van driven by Jayson Datar. The van was coming from the opposite direction in a section of the Candelaria-San Juan, Batangas road in Barangay (village) Sta. Catalina Sur. The incident happened at 5:45 p.m.

Due to the strong impact of the collision, Arzadon died on the spot from fatal head and body injuries. The Quezon police report did not state whether or not the fatality was wearing a crash helmet.

Wearing crash helmets for riders of two-wheeled motorized vehicles is required under the Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009.

Datar, who was unhurt, remained under police custody as the investigation continued.

However, the concerned parties were open to an amicable settlement, according to Quezon police.
