MANILA, Philippines — A 36-year-old man who has been missing since Holy Week was found dead in a lot in Tanay, Rizal, on Saturday, according to police.

In a report on Sunday, Rizal Police Provincial Office said a witness found the decomposing remains of Werner Jimenez, wearing a dark blue shirt and black short pants with a blue nylon cord tied around his waist.

His body, which was positively identified by his wife, was lying near a cliff in a lot along Barangay Madilay-Dilay Proper’s mountainous area.

Backtracked

After receiving the report, police launched an investigation and backtracked the CCTV within the area to identify possible suspects.

Jimenez went missing last March 29 and was reported missing by his wife on April 2.

Reports said the victim left their home around 8 p.m. to meet a certain Regie Reporzado at a gasoline station along Marilaque Highway within Barangay Sampaloc. He was onboard a motorcycle.

Following his alleged disappearance, Jimenez’s social media accounts were likewise deactivated and could no longer be searched online, according to niece Leiza.
