Aquino inaugurates controversial coal-fired power plant in Iloilo
ILOILO CITY, Philippines – President Benigno Aquino III on Friday inaugurated a P20-billion, 164-megawatt coal-fired power plant in Iloilo City’s La Paz District, citing the plant as a great boost to the entire Visayas power grid.
The President said that with the operation of the Panay Energy Development Corp.’s facility in Barangay Ingore, daily rotational brownouts in the Visayas would end.
