3 soldiers killed in ambush in Basilan
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, Philippines — Three members of the Intelligence Service Unit of the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP) were killed in an ambush at Barangay Baimbing, Lamitan City in Basilan province on Monday evening. shortly after 6 o clock in the evening, December 23.
Police Corporal Halima Ilul, an intelligence operative of the Lamitan City police office, reported through a phone call that the incident happened at past 6 p.m.

The report stated that a gray van with three persons on board was riddled with bullets by an undetermined number of armed men while passing through the highway of Barangay Baimbing.
Photos shared with the Inquirer showed three dead bodies inside the vehicle.
Major Orlando Ayllon, information officer of the Western Mindanao Command, confirmed the ambush but begged off to release details as they are still waiting official report from the ground.
