MANILA, Philippines—Road rage murder suspect Jason Ivler denied reports that the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) is giving him preferential treatment.

“There is no VIP treatment. We are all treated the same,” Ivler said in an interview over Radyo Inquirer.

“Those photos were taken in 2009, I was with my cousins,” Ivler said referring to the photos that came out over the internet suggesting that women, liquor and other prohibited items were brought to his cell last December.

Ivler said while it is true that there was an instance he had a woman visitor, it cannot be considered “conjugal visit.”

“They give security for every visitor and our visitors will only be allowed entry once they have shown valid ID and dressed properly,” he said.
“How can that be a conjugal visit? We are 23 here (referring to the International cell),” Ivler said.

He added that visitors can see the inmates Tuesday to Friday 1-5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

“They allow visitors to come in early on Sundays so that they can join us in attending the Mass,” Ivler said.
Ivler is locked up at the International Cell along with 22 other foreign inmates.

Ivler is facing a case for murder for the death Renato Ebarle Jr., son of former Presidential Management Staff Undersecretary Renato Ebarle.
