MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said on Wednesday that it has collected over 4,000 bags of trash during Feast of Black Nazarene activities.
Based on the data given by the MMDA to reporters, there were 4,062 bags of garbage collected from January 6 to 10 in the cities of Manila, Pasay, and Caloocan, as well as from Ortigas Base and Nagtahan West.
This number sums up to 86.03 tons, or 20.3 truckloads of trash, said the MMDA.
Meanwhile, in a separate report, the Manila Public Information Office said that they had gathered 158 truckloads of garbage during the same time period in the city alone.
The Traslacion for the Feast of the Black Nazarene was held on January 9.
But before the much-anticipated procession, devotees also participated in the traditional touching and kissing of the sacred image in Quirino Grandstand from January 6 to 8.
It was the resumption of the traditional Feast of the Black Nazarene celebration activities after a three-year halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
