TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines — The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in Eastern Visayas has announced it has surpassed its national ID registration target.
As of Oct. 31, 2024, a total of 4,164,406 individuals have registered, exceeding the regional target of 4,151,168 — a 100.3 percent accomplishment.
Based on PSA data, four provinces in the region — Leyte, Northern Samar, Samar, and Biliran — have reached and even exceeded their targets. Meanwhile, Southern Leyte and Eastern Samar are close to completion, achieving 97.9 percent and 96.7 percent, respectively.

Wilma Perante, PSA regional director, said his office were intensifying their registration efforts in Southern Leyte and Eastern Samar to achieve 100 percent coverage.
Initiatives include targeted campaigns and outreach programs to saturate possible registrants, particularly focusing on individuals aged one-year-old and above.
The National ID program plays a critical role in streamlining government and private services, fostering financial inclusion, and promoting overall national development.
With a national target of 92 million registrants by the end of 2024, the accomplishment in Eastern Visayas is a significant contribution to this goal.
Perante said the PSA commended the collaborative efforts of local governments, partner agencies, and communities that made the achievement possible.
“We are proud of Eastern Visayas’ performance in the National ID registration. We will continue working hard to ensure everyone in the region is included,” she said.
As the PSA pushes forward, the agency urged residents in the remaining areas to participate in the registration process, emphasizing the benefits of having a National ID for accessing government services, financial programs, and identity verification purposes.
