Nancy Binay hints at Makati mayoral run in 2025
MANILA, Philippines — Senator Nancy Binay has hinted at running for Makati City’s mayoral post in 2025, once her term ends.
In an interview with DWIZ’s Usapang Senado on Saturday, Binay was asked whether she plans to participate in Makati’s mayoral race for 2025, as she would be then restricted from running for a third Senate term due to term limits.
In response, Binay joked by saying that the host’s wish is her command.
“Nako baka magdilang anghel ka (Your words might come true) […] your wish is my command,” she added.
When asked about how she would fare as a Makati mayor, Binay said she will continue the good programs started by her sister, incumbent Mayor Abby Binay.

Of course, whatever Binay brand of service was started, we would continue that),” she added.
When asked about potentially squaring against his brother, former mayor Junjun Binay, Senator Binay said that his brother is busy after getting married recently. She also noted that while she does not want any quarrel within their family, her priority would be what is best for Makati.
“Parang at the moment, alam niyo ‘yong kapatid ko bagong ‘sakal’ eh, bagong kasal so hindi ko alam kung magko-concentrate muna siya sa love, sa pamilya niya, alam mo matagal pa naman, two years, one and a half, so tignan natin,” she said.
(I think at the moment, you know my brother is a newlywed person, so I don’t think… he might concentrate first with love, family, but you know it’s still a long time before that, two years, one and a half, so we’ll see.)
“Eh syempre ayaw naman natin ng gulo sa pamilya, but at the end of the day dapat nating isipin kung ano ‘yong makakabuti sa ating mga kababayan sa Makati,” she added.
(Of course we do not want problems within our family, but at the end of the day we should think about what would be good for the people of Makati.)
While the Binays have won every mayoral election over Makati since the 1986 Edsa People Power Revolution, the 2019 polls saw a bitter feud between Junjun Binay and Abby Binay, who both vied for the local chief executive post.
The feud reached a boiling point when the two siblings got into a heated discussion at a forum inside a Catholic church in the city. Former vice president Binay who ran under Abby’s ticket vowed to sort the issue between the siblings.
Senator Nancy meanwhile took Junjun’s side, although she has maintained that she remains open to a reconciliation with her sister.
