Marikina shifts to online classes on Teacher Appreciation Day

Classes in Marikina public elementary and high schools will shift to asynchronous mode on Thursday to give way for a “Teacher Appreciation Day,” the city’s Public Information Office (PIO) said.

MANILA, Philippines — Classes in Marikina public elementary and high schools will shift to asynchronous mode on Thursday to give way for a “Teacher Appreciation Day,” the city’s Public Information Office (PIO) said.

According to the PIO on Wednesday, the appreciation day will be held this Dec. 14 to extend the city’s gratitude for teachers, as well as to the schools’ non-teaching personnel.

“Pasasalamat sa ating teaching at non-teaching personnel sa nakalipas na taon, sa patuloy na pagsusumikap at sa mga sama-samang pinagtagumpayan,” Mayor Marcy Teodoro said in a statement.

Teodoro said he coordinated with the Department of Education-Marikina regarding the matter.

Under the Division Memorandum No. 231 series of 2023, a division-level appreciation day activity will be conducted at the Marikina Sports Center.

Schools were likewise enjoined to have a school-level appreciation day as part of their year-end activity.

The city mayor further said private schools in Marikina may also conduct an appreciation day at the discretion of their school management.
