Man rescued from 18-meter-high post in Marikina after nearly 30 hrs
MANILA, Philippines — After almost 30 hours, the man who climbed and spent the night on an 18.29-meter-high electric post in Marikina City was finally brought down by rescuers on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Marikina City Rescue, the man, whose name was withheld by authorities, climbed the electric post located at Tambuli Street corner Old JP Rizal Avenue in Barangay Kalumpang on Tuesday afternoon.
Households in the vicinity experienced brownout as electric lines were shut off for safety. Traffic congestion was also reported in the area.
At least two fire trucks from the Bureau of Fire Protection as well as a number of ambulances and rescuers within Marikina and from Quezon City took part in the recovery operation.
At 4:16 p.m. on Wednesday, the man was finally brought down from the high electric post.
