30-yr-old Malaysian arrested for alleged abduction of Chinese tourist
MANILA, Philippines – The Pasay City police on Sunday reported the arrest of a Malaysian national for allegedly kidnapping a female Chinese tourist.
The Chinese woman was able to escape and seek assistance from patrolling police officers, leading to the arrest of the suspect, identified as Kevin Co Tan, 30.
Based on the initial investigation, the victim was playing at a casino hotel in Pasay City when the suspect persuaded her to transfer to another gaming facility.
The Malaysian instead took her to another hotel, where she was physically assaulted and detained.
Tan reportedly demanded P1,640,000 and seized her possessions, including an iPhone 14 and a wristwatch with an estimated value of P800,000, the Pasay City police said.
