Rainy Thursday in parts of Luzon due to ‘habagat’

MANILA, Philippines — The southwest monsoon or “habagat” is expected to trigger rains in parts of Luzon on Thursday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
“The habagat is still causing rains in many parts of Northern and Central Luzon as well as the western portion of the Southern Luzon,” Pagasa weather specialist Leanne Loreto said in an early morning forecast.

Meanwhile, cloudy skies prevail in the rest of the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) and Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, romblon, Palawan) regions, she noted.
Fair weather down South
“Many parts of the Visayas and Mindanao will experience fair weather conditions throughout the day, although there would still be sudden rain showers due to localized thunderstorms,” Loreto also said.
She also detailed that the state weather bureau is monitoring a low pressure area outside the Philippine area of responsibility. /gsg
