MANILA, Philippines — Former senator Leila de Lima will likely be acquitted, according to lawyer Harry Roque, who served as spokesperson of then president Rodrigo Duterte.De Lima was released on bail on Monday after nearly seven years in prison for drug-related  charges.

Roque, who had wished for a lifetime of jail time for De Lima, on Tuesday said that the judiciary had decided that evidence against de Lima is not strong enough.

“Well ang sabi na nga ng hukuman na ginrant sya ng bail dahil hindi malakas ang ebidensya laban sa kanya,” Roque said.

(The court has granted her bail petition because the evidence against her is not strong enough.)

“Mukhang patungo na nga po doon kasi kung malakas ang ebidensya e di ipinagkait ang piyansa  sa kanya,” Roque reluctantly replied when pressed further if he thought de Lima would go free.

(It looks like it is going there because if the evidence is strong, she would not be able to post bail.)
