MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 3.9 earthquake rocked the province of Iloilo early Tuesday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The tectonic temblor occurred 17 kilometers north of Maasin, Iloilo, at 2:56 a.m. It has a depth of focus of four kilometers.
State seismologists said Instrumental Intensity III was recorded in Passi City and Iloilo, while Instrumental Intensity II was logged in Tapaz, Capiz.
In a previous interview with INQUIRER.net, Phivolcs Science Research Analyst Lara Guianan explained that instrumental intensity is the quake’s strength measured by an intensity meter or scale.
Phivolcs said no damage nor aftershock is expected from this earthquake.
