MANILA, Philippines — The low pressure area (LPA) east of Visayas has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported on Wednesday.
Pagasa said the LPA was located some 750 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar.
“Sa ating latest satellite images ay nakapasok na nga ng Philippine area of responsibility ang low pressure area na ating binabantayan nitong mga nakalipas na araw,” weather specialist Obed Badrina said.

According to the weather bureau, the trough of the said LPA will bring rain to many parts of the country.
Rains are expected in Metro Manila, CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), MIMAROPA (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), a major portion of Visayas, and Mindanao, Pagasa said.
Badrina reported that while the LPA has a slim chance of becoming a tropical depression, it may just become an extension of Typhoon Bolaven which is outside PAR.
“Base po sa pinakahuling datos natin ay maliit pa rin yung tyansa na maging bagyo itong low pressure area,” he said.
(Based on our latest data, the chance of this low pressure area developing into a tropical depression remains small.)
“Mas nakikita po natin yung posibilidad na maging trough o extension na lamang ito ng bagyong si Bolaven,” he added.
(We can see its higher possibility of becoming a trough or extension of Typhoon Bolaven.)
Pagasa noted that Typhoon Bolaven is not expected to enter PAR. It was located some 2,310 kilometers east of Southeastern Luzon.
No gale warning is raised in the coastal waters of the country, Badrina said.
