MANILA, Philippines – To bolster its water service coverage in the province of Rizal, Manila Water’s Binangonan 50-million-liters-per-day (MLD) pumping station and 7-million-liter reservoir is now benefitting 114,198 customers (19,033 households) in Binangonan in the province.
This project is one of the key elements of the East Bay Phase 1 Water Supply System Project and is situated in Barangay Mahabang Parang in Binangonan, Rizal. The goal of the P7.8-billion East Bay Phase 1 project is to give the municipalities of Jalajala, Baras, Cardona, Morong, Pililla, and Binangonan in Rizal a consistent supply of potable water.

In addition, the P435.73-million Binangonan Pumping Station and Reservoir plays a crucial role in storing and conveying treated water from the East Bay Water Treatment Plant to distribution areas.
Water sourced from Laguna Lake is treated at the East Bay Water Treatment Plant. After treatment, water is conveyed to the Morong Pumping Station. After which, the Morong Pumping Station drives the treated water through a submarine line to the Binangonan Pumping Station and Reservoir.
The facility includes a structural building that houses the reservoir and pumping station equipment. Submersible pumps, motors, and other essential implements that support the water distribution system are connected to a piping network. Additionally, backup generator sets and specialized electrical systems were installed to maximize performance and minimize service interruptions.
The Motor Control Center (MCC) room was also built to house the control panel and other systems required for operations management, monitoring, and enabling efficient automated control of the entire pumping station.
“Providing customers with high-quality service remains top of mind as we grow our offerings in Rizal. Considering this, we also assist communities in enhancing their health and advancing their development,” stated Jeric Sevilla, Director of the Manila Water Corporate Affairs Group.
Since its completion last April 2024, the project has been delivering essential water services from the East Bay Phase 1 Water System to the communities in Binangonan.
