LUCENA CITY — Two alleged big-time illegal drug traffickers were arrested on Tuesday, Sept. 5, and yielded more than P1.1 million worth of shabu (crystal meth) in separate buy-bust operations in Quezon province.
A team from the provincial police drug enforcement unit and cops from Pagbilao town held Ronnie Rocela, 35, at 12:39 a.m. after he sold P14,000 worth of meth to a poseur buyer in Barangay Talipan, Colonel Ledon Monte, Quezon police chief, said in a report.
The anti-illegal drugs operatives confiscated 10 plastic sachets of meth weighing 51 grams valued by the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) at P346,800, and worth P1,040,400 in the street market at P20,400 per gram, the report said.
The police also confiscated a motorcycle believed to have been used by the suspect in his illegal drug trade.
Police tagged the suspect, a resident of the locality, as a “high-value individual” in the drug trade.
In Candelaria town, policemen also busted Romie Sanchez, 37, in a sting at 2:40 a.m. in Barangay Malabanban Sur.
The suspect, a drug pusher in the locality, was caught possessing two sachets of shabu with a DDB value of P35,360 and worth P106,080 in the street market.
Ledon ordered the Pagbilao and Candelaria police to conduct further investigation to determine the source of the illegal drugs.
The suspects were detained and are facing complaints of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
