Marcos reorganizes NSC, removes VP as member due to irrelevance
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has issued an executive order reorganizing the National Security Council (NSC) and removing the Vice President as a member due to the position’s irrelevance to the responsibilities of membership in the council.
Asked by reporters why the NSC was restructured, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said it was to “reorganize and streamline the membership of the NSC.”

The Chinese Embassy in the Philippines on Friday dismissed as “fake news” social media posts stating that a new disease outbreak in China is causing “international health concern.”
Earlier this week, several social media posts claimed a surge in respiratory illnesses in China, including human metapneumovirus (HMPV), Influenza A, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, and Covid-19.
BI: 22,609 Pogo workers leave PH; 11,000 others for deportation
A total of 22,609 Philippine offshore gaming operator (Pogo) workers have left the country following the December 31 deadline, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Monday.
BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval said that out of the 33,863 Pogo workers registered under the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor), over 11,000 remain in the country and are now subject to deportation.

In a statement on Thursday, San Miguel Corp.-led New Naia Infra Corp. (NNIC) reported that passenger volume had risen 10.43 percent to 50.1 million last year, which is markedly higher than the 35-million annual capacity of the airport.
