Comelec pauses work, Metro Manila BSKE COC filing amid bad weather
MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Thursday suspended its operations in all its offices in Metro Manila due to the effects of the typhoon-boosted southwest monsoon.
Due to the inclement weather, it also suspended the filing and receiving of certificates of candidacy (COCs) in Metro Manila on Thursday. The Comelec said it would extend the COC filing in Metro Manila to make up for the lost day due to a pause in the poll body’s operations.

“Due to severe rains and flooding in Metro Manila brought about by Typhoon Goring, work in all Comelec Offices in the National Capital Region is suspended today, August 31, 2023,” Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco told reporters through Viber.

Article continues after this advertisementAs of August 30, the Comelec said 530,449 aspirants filed their COCs nationwide for the BSKE this October.
