Shabu worth P818,000 seized from 2 suspects in Batangas, Rizal

LUCENA CITY – Police arrested two alleged big-time drug pushers on Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 28 and 29, and seized more than P818,000 worth of shabu (crystal meth) in separate buy-bust operations in Batangas and Rizal provinces.

The Police Region 4A reported that anti-narcotics operatives in Batangas City arrested Edsel Melo around 3:15 a.m. Tuesday after he sold a pack of shabu to an undercover cop in Barangay Alangilan.

The suspect, tagged as a “high-value” target in the government’s drug war, was found in possession of four sachets and one knot-tied plastic containing shabu weighing 90.3 grams.

The seized illegal substance has an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) value of P614,040.

In Pililla town in Rizal province, members of the local drug enforcement unit busted at 9:20 p.m. on Monday Jhaypee Moises in Barangay Malaya.

The suspect, included on the drug watch list as a street-level pusher, yielded 10 plastic sachets of meth weighing 30 grams with a DDB value of P204,000.

Authorities also seized a mobile phone from the suspect which will be subjected to digital forensic examinations if they have records of drug transactions.

Police in Batangas City and Pililla are investigating the source of the illegal drugs.

The arrested suspects were detained and are facing charges of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
