ARMED Forces Chief of Staff Gen. Eduardo Oban Jr. dropped by the Central Command yesterday to greet and announce benefits for the troops stationed in Central Visayas.

Oban, who was introduced by Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin, cited the Centcom’s role in implementing the Internal Peace and Security Program (IPSP) or Oplan Bayanihan which expanded the military’s role in disaster relief and rescue operations.

Oban and Gazmin credited the program with facilitating the rescue of Cebu City Engineer Virgilio Fernandez from the Abu Sayyaf bandit group in Basilan province.
