LEGAZPI CITY — Three men were held on Sunday, April 2, at a police checkpoint for possession of undocumented firearms and ammunition in Aroroy town, Masbate.
Lieutenant Colonel Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson, said in a report that Jeson Cadiz, 36; Gaspar Rabo, 29; and Christian Race, 31, were flagged down around 9:30 p.m. in Barangay Puro while onboard a Mitsubishi L300 van.
Seized from them were a Taurus 9 mm with a defaced serial number; a steel magazine for 9 mm with 16 rounds of live ammunition; a Caspian .45 pistol with serial number 279307; a steel magazine for a .45 with eight rounds of live ammunition; and a Norinco .45 pistol with serial number 687283.
Also seized from the suspects were two steel magazines for a caliber.45 with 11 rounds of live ammunition; and 75 containers with gasoline products, totaling about 1,500 liters.
Calubaquib said the suspects failed to present documents for the firearms or permit to transport the petroleum products.
“The early capture of the suspects can be credited to these efforts, which effectively thwarted the possible lawlessness that might be launched,” Calubaquib said in the report.
An investigation was underway to identify their possible affiliation with criminal groups.
They are in police custody pending proper disposition. INQ
