Maguindanao town mayor orders hunt for suspects in ambush of family that killed 3

COTABATO CITY — Mayor Bai Bongbong Ampatuan of Datu Hoffer, Maguindanao del Sur, condemned the attack on Monday against innocent children and directed the municipal police to identify and arrest the perpetrators of the crime.
A father and his two children, aged 8 months and 3 years, were killed in an ambush in a remote village on Monday night.
Captain Ramillo Serame, Datu Hoffer police chief, identified the fatalities as Sadam Mamasainged and his two children, Hanafia and Hamdi.
Serame said Mamasainged was driving his tricycle, locally known as “payong-payong,” heading home from an evening prayer in a mosque when ambushed by unidentified gunmen in Sitio Bagurot, Barangay Tuayan Mother.
Mamasainged’s wife, Faira, and a nephew, also a minor, escaped unharmed.
Police probers found empty shells for M-16 and M-14 rifles at the crime scene.
