MANILA, Philippines — Pasig City will suspend face-to-face classes and offer free rides to commuters who will be affected by the week-long transportation strike starting on March 6.
In response to the government’s public utility vehicles (PUVs) modernization program, around 40,000 PUV drivers in Metro Manila are expected to join the week-long strike despite the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) extension of the traditional jeepney phaseout to December 31.
Aside from suspending classes and deploying free rides, the city government also rescheduled Arangkada All Motorcade, an event to kick off the area’s celebration of the 2023 National Women’s Month, from March 6 to 13.
Listed below is Pasig City’s list of routes with free ride services:
- Pasig Mega Market to Shaw Boulevard (and vice versa)
- Pasig Mega Market to Ligaya via Dr. Sixto Antonio Ave. (and vice versa)
- Pasig Mega Market to Kalawaaan to San Joaquin to Pasig Mega Market (loop)
- Pasig Mega Market to Ligaya via C. Raymund Ave. (and vice versa)
- Pasig Mega Market to Dr. Sixto Antonio Ave. to Rosario to C. Raymund Ave. to Pasig Mega Market (loop)
“Libreng Sakay” services are available from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m., 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., and 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The cities of Valenzuela, Caloocan, and Taguig will likewise roll out free rides to commuters during the week-long strike.
