Workers find grenade in construction site in Ormoc City

Construction workers who were digging for the foundation of a house recovered a fragmentation grenade in District 26 here on Tuesday morning, Jan 31.

ORMOC CITY — Construction workers who were digging for the foundation of a house recovered a fragmentation grenade in District 26 here on Tuesday morning, Jan 31.

Chief Master Sergeant Reynante Carba of the explosive ordnance disposal team of Ormoc City said they received information about the recovery of a fragmentation grenade at a construction site.

He said they immediately responded to the place and retrieved a fragmentation grenade while excavating a foundation of the house that is being constructed.

Carba said the MK II fragmentation grenade would still explode once the pin is pulled out.

He said he was thankful that the people who discovered the grenade were very cautious because if they handled it carelessly, it would have exploded.

The grenade was brought to the Camp Downes for proper disposition.
