Robredo’s Angat Buhay Foundation says 16k families were assisted in 2022

MANILA, Philippines — The Angat Buhay Foundation initiated by former vice president Leni Robredo was able to aid 16,237 families in 2022, a report on Tuesday from the non-government organization (NGO) showed.

According to Angat Buhay, 12,541 individuals in 162 communities across the country were also given assistance with the help of 110 volunteer groups — which included 13,271 volunteers mobilized across the country.

“Last year, Angat Buhay served 16,237 families and 12,541 individuals in 162 communities. This feat was made possible by the 110 volunteer groups and 13,271 individual volunteers mobilized all over the country,” the NGO said.

Angat Buhay was also reintroduced by its officials, led by Robredo herself, to its partner agencies including members of the diplomatic corps, other NGOs, and corporate foundations during a lunch meeting in Makati last Monday.

The meeting was also meant to explore “new areas of collaboration for 2023.”

“The fourth pillar: community engagement is quite new and this is what’s markedly different from Angat Buhay before… In every town and every city that needs our help, we have a huge army of volunteers there already,” Robredo said.

Angat Buhay executive director Raffy Magno meanwhile hoped that the organizations who have helped them would continue to assist them in 2023.

According to the group, among the personalities who attended the meeting are the following:

“We look forward to working with all of you as we weave stories of hope and passion, and champion dignity for the Filipino people,” Magno said.

The Angat Buhay Foundation was first conceptualized after a thanksgiving program held by Robredo’s team after the partial, unofficial results showed the former vice president losing to the eventual winner, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Robredo then vowed to set up the foundation once her term ended on June 30.

Many saw it as an extension of Robredo’s projects when she was still with the Office of the President, especially as their office was known for quick response to calamities and out-of-the-box solutions to national concerns, like the COVID-19 pandemic.
