Magnitude 4.8 quake hits Camarines Norte; aftershocks, damage likely – Phivolcs
MANILA, Philippines — A 4.8-magnitude earthquake rocked Camarines Norte on Tuesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said. The temblor was felt even in Metro Manila.
According to the Phivolcs, the quake hit at 5:57 a.m. with its epicenter located 12 kilometers southeast of Tinaga Island in the municipality of Vinzons. It added that the tectonic earthquake had a depth of focus of one kilometer.
It also described it as “strong,” registering up to Intensity V on the Richter scale in Camarines Norte.
Authorities cautioned that damage and aftershocks may be expected.
