MANILA, Philippines — The National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) has so far recorded 11 deaths and four injuries caused by the effects of low-pressure areas (LPAs) which have affected the country since January 2.
According to an NDRRMC advisory on Tuesday, the casualties were recorded in Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, and BARMM.
A total of 263,906 individuals or 63,101 families, were affected by the LPAs, displacing 3,387 individuals or 815 families.
The cost of damage to infrastructure is currently estimated at P125,490,260, while the damage to agriculture costs around P77,934,235.57
Damaged houses, meanwhile, are 432, while impassable roads and bridges, are 18 and 4, respectively.
The NDRRMC said that it had provided the following assistance for affected areas:
- Assistance worth P8,984,566 to the affected population
- Office of Civil Defense Regional Office and Local DRRMOs continuous coordination and monitoring
- Search and Rescue teams and operations deployed
- Activated Regional Emergency Operations Centers
- Broadcasted Emergency Alert and Warning Messages
Another LPA entered the Philippine area of responsibility on Tuesday morning, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), which is expected to bring more widespread rain throughout the country in the coming days.
