Borongan, Surigao City had most rainfall in past 5 days – Pagasa

PAGASA WEATHER UPDATE CARD. STORY: Borongan, Surigao City had most rainfall in past 5 days – Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — Borongan City in Eastern Samar and Surigao City in Surigao del Norte had the most rainfall in the past five days, according to a Monday forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Pagasa weather specialist Veronica Torres also listed eight other areas — four each in Mindanao and the Visayas — that also had continuous rain, advising residents to be wary of landslides.

“We advise our countrymen there to take care because the ground may be soft due to the continuous rain and the very high rainfall of the past few days,” Torres said in Filipino.

According to Pagasa, the following got the most rainfall in five days in the Visayas and Mindanao:

Visayas

  • Borongan City, Eastern Samar: 249.5 mm total
  • Guluan, Eastern Samar: 135.2 mm total
  • Catarman, Northern Samar:  134.5 mm total
  • Tacloban City, Leyte: 94.3 mm total
  • Catbalogan City, Samar – 95.8 mm total

Mindanao

  • Surigao City, Surigao del Norte: 367.7 mm total
  • Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur: 115.7 mm total
  • Butuan City, Agusan del Norte: 115.7 mm total
  • Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental: 42.7 mm total
  • Cotabato City, Maguindano del Norte: 27.3 mm total
