2 dead, 4 hurt as mini-truck falls into irrigation canal in Kalinga province
BAGUIO CITY — Two people died, and four others were injured Wednesday after the mini-truck carrying them plunged into an irrigation canal in Tabuk City, Kalinga province, the police said.
Investigators identified the fatalities as Edwin Capuyan and Jayson Bang-ay Quinio, both of Barangay Agbannawag in Tabuk City.
Injured were truck driver Cesar Abalos Camtugan and passengers Marlon Masedma Kis-ing, Jaymay Bistacion Badillo, and Daniel Casim Cudal.
An initial investigation showed that the victims were headed to Conner town in nearby Apayao province when the driver lost control of the truck around 6 a.m. as he negotiated a curve in Tabuk’s Barangay Calanan, causing it to fall into the irrigation canal on the roadside.
Capuyan and Bang-ay died on the spot, while the other victims were taken to a hospital, the police said. INQ
