MANILA, Philippines — Police arrested a security guard for alleged robbery-holdup at a popular drugstore in Quezon City on Tuesday.

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD), in a report, confirmed that suspect Erick Mercado, 35, was collared in a Mercury Drug store along Banawe Street in Barangay Dona Josefa at around 6:30 a.m.

Two employees were inside the drugstore when Mercado had purportedly entered, declaring a holdup while he drew his firearm, according to the QCPD.

The suspect, it added, “ordered the witness…to open the safety vault then, forcibly demanded and divested the missing undetermined amount of money from the safety vault.”

QCPD said Mercado then left the drugstore and drove his motorcycle toward Quezon Avenue.

Recovered from the scene were a steel saw, hammer, crew bar, and a broken safety vault with six cellphone units and P168,000-worth of cash inside.
